Our goal is simple:
To help the U.S. ALS landscape
work smarter and move faster.

About

Our thinking

The ALS landscape spans hundreds of organizations across academia, government, philanthropy, industry and patient communities.  This complexity makes it challenging for these organizations to operate in the integrated, efficient way we need them to.  In this sense, ALS is a business problem as much as it is a science problem.

We want to help by applying business thinking to ALS non-science problems - and we will start with ALS charities.  First, we want to urgently help our fellow PALS and CALS navigate nearly 100 organizations in the U.S. to find the help they need.  Then, we want to analyze these charities and offer useful benchmarks and data-driven insights for improving their performance.

The ALS landscape doesn't have a CEO - but it sure can benefit from thinking like one.  Let's do this!

Dave Shulman

Professional living with ALS

Diagnosed in May 2023 at age 44 with limb-onset ALS, Dave quickly plugged into the ALS landscape and draws from his 25-year career in banking to provide strategic and analytical insights and advice to the leaders of ALS organizations and initiatives.  He started Analyze ALS to create a platform for socializing ideas, sparking discussion and piloting innovations.

Dave proudly attended the ALS Clinical Research Learning Institute at the 2023 Annual NEALS Meeting, as well as the Patient Fellows Symposium Program at the 2023 International Symposium on ALS/MND.  He currently co-chairs the NIH’s AMP ALS Natural History Study Working Group, serves on the Healey ALS Platform Trial Patient Advisory Committee, and collaborates with Everything ALS on citizen-driven research.

Dave holds degrees from Lehigh University (B.S., Finance & Accounting) and Columbia University (M.B.A.).   He resides in Summit, New Jersey, with his wife, two kids and mischievous shih tzu.  He is incredibly grateful to his family, friends and colleagues for all of their support throughout his ALS journey and his foray into patient advocacy.
